In his comments released to the news media, the governor “committed to supporting teachers who are working hard in classrooms across Connecticut to put our students on a path to success.”

The governor also referenced in his statement recent efforts to move our state closer to universal, high quality pre-Kindergarten (pre-K) for all our state’s children. AFT Connecticut leadership, along with members of our local unions representing public school teachers, advocated for several initiatives in the current legislative session to improve and expand early education. Over the weekend, two bills passed both chambers that would the Office of Early Childhood and creates the Connecticut “Smart Start” pre-K plan.
