“The compromise bill passed late last night is a good start toward protecting patients and local economies faced with conversion of their community hospitals. There is still much work to be done to assure a clear, transparent process for holding health management corporations seeking to take-over our acute care facilities accountable.
“The bill comes up short on needed safeguards for quality care and the community’s access to the healthcare services they deserve. It also fails to create a mechanism for meaningful input from the communities that would be impacted by the potential take-over of their hospitals.
“Going forward, we intend to continue to speaking out for our patients, their families, and our communities. And we remain committed to work with the legislature on this vital issue.”
