Big corporations, politicians and wealthy interests have rigged our economy and our politics against working people for decades. They have robbed Americans of the freedom to earn a decent living, take a loved one to the doctor without fear of losing a job and retire with dignity.
We have seen that the special interests will do whatever it takes to keep rigging the system in their favor. Now they’ve co-opted the U.S. Supreme Court to strike at the freedom of people to come together in strong unions. Their decision in the Koch Brothers-backed lawsuit, Janus v. AFSCME Council 31, threatens a voice for all working people, not just those of us who benefit from labor contracts.
Members of AFT affiliated unions in Connecticut and across the country have long confronted this rigged system – and the CEOs and politicians who prop it up – head on. They are once again mobilizing to defend their hard-won rights and freedoms by building on the strength of the “U & I in Union.”
